Claudia Cantu- Grimaldo


Claudia Cantu-Grimaldo is Lower RGV District Manager for Wells Fargo.  She graduated from the University of Texas- Pan American in 1996 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.  She has over 17 years banking experience all with Wells Fargo and has worked in Webb County, Hidalgo County and now in Cameron County during her tenure.  She is currently in the boards of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Southern Cameron County, and UTB School of Business Advisory Board.


Ben Pena


Ben Pena is an assurance services partner with Burton, McCumber & Cortez, LLP in Brownsville, Texas (“BMC”). Ben graduated from the University of Texas Pan American in 1996 with a BBA in Accounting and has been with BMC for over 17 years. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Internal Controls Auditor. Ben currently serves as President of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and is Taylor Christian School board member.  Ben also serves as state director at-large for the Texas Society of CPAs.


Richard Burton


Richard Burton, a founder of the Brownsville Community Foundation, is a Certified Public Accountant and partner in the regional accounting firm of Burton McCumber & Cortez, L.L.P. He helped establish the Brownsville Adult Literacy Center and has assisted the United Way of Southern Cameron County for more than 20 years. He has served on boards of the Brownsville Economic Development Council and the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation.


Bertha Garza


Bertha Garza is an established leader in the Brownsville community with more than 40 years of experience. She serves as vice president and marketing director of IBC Bank-Brownsville. Garza is a graduate of Texas Southmost College and has attended and graduated from leadership programs including Leadership Brownsville, Leadership Texas, and Leadership America. She is the founder of Women, Money & Power, an organization empowering women in the Brownsville borderplex community, and has held leadership positions on several organizations including Leadership Texas, Friends of ARCC, Leadership Brownsville, Brownsville Museum of Fine Art, March of Dimes, and United Way of Southern Cameron County. 


Marcela Ronquillo Hinojosa

Marcela Ronquillo Hinojosa is currently serving as Curator of The Brownsville Museum of Fine Art.  She formally was the Director of the Museum.  She has been a driving force for the Arts for Texas and Mexico.  She has been active in many other non-profit areas, also, helping the communities of both Brownsville and Matamoros for many years.


Amy Tipton

Originally from Storm Lake, Iowa, Amy Tipton is a retired English teacher.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa and taught at various schools in Brownsville, ending her twenty-six year career at St. Joseph Academy.  She is currently a member of the St. Joseph Academy School Board and EV Chapter of PEO and past member of the National Council of Teachers of English, International Reading Association, Texas Council of Teachers of English, and the First Tee of Greater Brownsville Board. 


Al Villarreal 

Al Villarreal is a Senior Executive Vice President at the International Bank of Commerce. He graduated from the University of Texas and earned his graduate degree at Southern Methodist University's Southwest Gradaute School of Banking. He has served on the boards for the United Way of Southern Cameron County, Brownsville Public Utilities Board,  March of Dimes Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation, and Guadalupe Regional Middle School.
